Depending on the strength of peroxide in the gel, these clear trays are usually worn a couple of hours a day or overnight and could take anywhere from 3 days to a couple of weeks before any results are noticed. There are basically two types of teeth whitening trays and gels: Those purchased from your dentist and those purchased over the counter. While they will both whiten your teeth, the two have noted differences.
Teeth whitening kits from the dentist produce faster and more effective results because they contain a stronger peroxide-bleaching agent than whitening kits purchased over the counter. Another benefit of trays and gels from the dentist is that the trays are custom made and fit your teeth exactly. Over-the-counter trays are generic sized and could allow the bleaching agent to come into contact with your gums, causing irritation.
* Teeth Whitening Strips — Teeth whitening strips are popping up in every drug store across the nation. These whitening strips sold over the counter are fairly inexpensive, easy to use and most of them really work. Teeth whitening strips may take take longer to produce the desired results depending on the strength of peroxide that they contain. * Teeth Whitening Toothpastes — Teeth whitening toothpastes contain mild abrasives to remove surface stains. Some whitening toothpastes may have additional polishing agents and special chemicals that are more effective against stains than regular toothpastes, but teeth whitening toothpastes are not designed to actually “bleach” your teeth.
* Other Teeth Whitening Products — New teeth whitening products are always popping up including whitening chewing gum, dental floss and mouthwashes. While these products are relatively new, not much research has been done to prove or disprove the effectiveness of these whitening products. I have actually tried all three and I am sad to say that while they tasted good or worked well, I didn’t see any whitening results.
If you are still unsure, ask your dentist to recommend a teeth whitening treatment for you. If you live in the United States, be sure to look for the American Dental Association (ADA) seal of acceptance on over-the-counter teeth whitening products.

Teeth Whitening Comparison

With all the teeth whitening products on the market today, if I didn't know any better I would have to say that this country's toothpaste manufacturers must not be doing a very good job. How else can you explain just how popular teeth whiteners are, without pointing the finger at the first line of defense -- your toothpaste?
But I think that's probably a discussion for a different day. Today, let's try and do a teeth whitening comparison so that we can find out which method, and which product, performs the best.
Before we begin, just a little note -- because there are so many different teeth whitening methods out there, and so many competing teeth whitening products on the market, we can't possibly cover everything in the limited space we have here.

Finally, we have systems that use basically the same active ingredients that you would find if you visited your dentist for a whitening treatment. As you might imagine, these have been shown to be the most effective.
The only problem with them is that the cost is obviously much higher. Still, even if you were to pay full price for these teeth whitening systems, you'd still be saving significant amounts of money versus a trip to the dentist's office.
But remember, there are ways to get even very high priced and a effective teeth whiteners for free. More on this in a second.
The last class of whitening products, which I haven't even really mentioned up until now, would be a whitening treatment administered by your dentist. This will get good results -- although studies have been done that showed that nearly everyone believes a quality at-home whitener performs just as well, if not better. But as I mentioned above, you can expect to pay anywhere from $750 up to a few thousand dollars for this.
And what's more, most dentists admit that their patients almost always return for multiple visits before they get the results they're after. So you can see that this can become quite expensive very quickly.

After The Tooth Is Pulled

After an extraction, it's important for a blood clot to form to stop the bleeding and begin the healing process. That's why your dentist will ask you to bite on a gauze pad for 30 to 45 minutes after an extraction. If bleeding or oozing continues after you remove the gauze pad, place another gauze pad on the area and bite firmly for another 30 minutes. You may have to do this several times.

After the blood clot forms, it's important to protect it, especially for the next 24 hours. It's important to not:
